Overview

Born in South Wales to Irish parents, Kevin Sinnott began his career at the Cardiff College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art in London. He remained in London throughout the 1970s and 1980s, exhibiting at leading London galleries and internationally in the USA. He returned to Wales in 1995, where he now lives and works.

His expressive and dynamic paintings illustrate intimate moments of affection and gesture in human relationships, often pared with the valleys landscape of his home. One of his best-known paintings, ‘Running Away With the Hairdresser’ (1995), is housed in the collection of the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff.  His work is also represented in other major collections including Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the British Council, the Royal College of Art London and the British Museum.
