Winter Exhibition / Arddangosfa Gaeaf: Celebrating the gallery's first anniversary / Dathlu pen-blwydd cyntaf yr oriel

This is our first of what will become an annual Winter Exhibition at Celf Gallery. The constantly changing show will highlight the work of our gallery artists, including; Philip Archer OBE, Karina Rosanne Barrett, Richard Barrett, Carl Chapple, Daniel Crawshaw, Oliver Gaiger, Mary Griffiths, Clive Hicks-Jenkins, Harry Holland, Shani Rhys James MBE, Angharad Pearce Jones, Mary Lloyd Jones, John Macfarlane, Eleri Mills, Sally Moore, Sigrid Muller, Iwan Gwyn Parry, Kevin Sinnott, Sally James Thomas, Sarah Thwaites, Anette Townsend, Catrin Williams, Vivienne Williams, and Stephen Young.

It's also our pleasure to welcome Patricia Volk and Gethin Evans into the fold.

Patricia Volk's sculptures are known for their vibrant use of colour and abstract forms. Made from painted clay, her sculptures challenge traditional narratives associated with ceramics. Characterised by their bold, instinctive designs, her use of vivid colours and abstract shapes capture the viewer's attention and evoke a sense of individuality. They celebrate the beauty and simplicity of form while also pushing the boundaries of conventional ceramic art. Her pieces are not just visually striking but also thought-provoking, inviting viewers to see beyond the surface and appreciate the deeper connections between the elements.

Originally from Maesteg, Gethin Evans now lives and works in London. His paintings document the modern and contemporary world of café bars, outdoor pools, anonymous city streets and the people who inhabit them. The colourful, light filled works, hint at storylines hidden within the narrative of the ordinary. His paintings are influenced by Italian painters of the 14th and 15th century, and the work of 20th century painters painters, Edward Hopper and Pierre Bonnard. 'Colour, structure, surface and space reference the tradition of figurative painting and the popular culture of film, comic book imagery, literature and photography contribute to the way I think about my ideas and images'.

This Winter Exhibition also celebrates the gallery's First Year Anniversary.
