“I don’t endeavour to imitate nature, but to make work inspired by it, and through this, to communicate the spirit of life force coming into being. Subject matter is often revealed through play and exploration of the materials themselves; this, and a fascination with the quiet energy of botanical forms, has underpinned my work”
Sue Hunt’s work is based around botanically-inspired forms, complemented by an abstract approach to composition. Fluid paint applications and more precise drawing often contrasting with each other within the same work. There’s a sensitivity for the objects, mostly flora, in her work, with the grouping, separation, and isolation of objects creating lyrical and dreamlike compositions.
